Tips for Planning a Corporate Event

By | April 21st, 2017|Categories: Blog|

We know planning corporate events requires a lot of work. There are numerous things you need to check off your list as the corporate event planner. One of the most important things to consider is the food you will be serving.

Not all corporate events are created equal, so we thought we would share a few tips for planning the menu for your next corporate event.

Miracle & Marvels

Corporate Event Menu Tips

  1. Finding your Caterer – You caterer can make or break your event! You should search for a caterer who is familiar with menus for corporate events to ensure a wide variety of options for all of your guests.
  2. Know your attendees – Try to find out what your guests’ like and dislike. Knowing this will help you determine what menu items they will enjoy and what items to leave off the list. We recommend doing some recon on your clientele’s partialities and past experiences.
  3. Get a head count – There is nothing worse than running out of food when you’re trying to impress clients. Find out ahead of time the number of guests attending to determine the quantity of food and drinks you will need.
  4. Don’t forget dietary needs – We always recommend having dietary options. Some guests may be vegetarian or gluten-free, and you don’t want important clients or your superiors to go hungry.
  5. Know your timing – If your event is during the day, the menu options might be slightly different from an event in the evening. Also, planning out how long your event will be will help you determine how much food you need and how many hours your book your caterer.
  6. Consider the tone and style of your event – In order to select the right food options, you need to determine what kind of event you are putting on. Is it more casual or formal?  If your event is casual, you could have a buffet or boxed lunches, but if your event is black tie you will want to offer a plated dinner or passed hors d’oeuvres.

Whether you are having a casual corporate meeting with boxed lunches or are planning a large gala or seated fundraiser, the Bistro Boys team can help you customize an impressive menu to wow your guests. Our delicious menu items and expertise can enhance any corporate event. For more details visit our Corporate Event page.

Wedding Wednesday: Spring Wedding Menu Ideas

By | April 19th, 2017|Categories: Blog|

Spring is in the air, and we could argue that springtime is the best time of year to get hitched. The colors, decor, weather, and, of course, food are all great reasons to have a spring wedding. Now that spring has sprung, we wanted to share some fun ways to embrace the season through food with a few spring wedding menu ideas from The Knot and the team here at Bistro Boys.

Spring Wedding Menu Ideas

Spring-Inspired Sweets

Light flavors like vanilla, lemon, and berries fit well in any springtime menu. French macaroons and fruit-filled mini desserts are great options to add some color and elegance to your dessert menu.

Crisp Cocktails

Brit + Co

A crisp, signature cocktail at your spring wedding is a must. We suggest combining your favorite spring fruits with your favorite spirits. Refreshing ideas we love include Mango Martinis, Lemo Drops, or Champagne Mojitos.

Light Dishes

Brit + Co

Since the winter is behind us, we recommend offering guest light entrees with seasonal citrus flavors.

Brighten the Buffett

Sam Shorey and Cara Denison

To add a spring touch to your buffet, we suggest decorating the table with bright flowers and colorful table decor.

The team at Bistro Boys is happy to help incorporate any theme into your wedding menu no matter the season. For more information on wedding catering head to the Weddings Section on our website.

Interview Questions For Your Caterer

By | April 12th, 2017|Categories: Blog|

If you are in search for the perfect caterer for your wedding make sure to get the answers to these eight questions before signing on the dotted line.

Question 1 – Is your menu fixed or customizable? If you want the menu to reflect your food preferences, you should make sure that your caterer can customize the menu to your liking. At Bistro Boys, you can pick and choose your menu items from an array of menu options, or we can recreate your favorite dishes to develop a menu designed specifically for you and your guests.

Question 2 – What service styles do you offer? When planning your reception, you will want to make sure your caterer provides the style of service that you want whether that is family style, a plated dinner, food stations, or passed hors d’oeuvres.

Question 3 – Do you offer vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options? It is important to know if the caterer can provide alternative options if you have any guests with diet restrictions. At Bistro Boys, we offer a number of delicious diet-restricted options, which all go beyond a simple salad.

Question 4 – Do you provide rentals?  A quality caterer will provide rental packages, or they will offer vendor recommendations. At Bistro Boys, we offer a rental package and are happy to coordinate rentals with other vendors.

Question 5 – Is your staff trained? It takes an experienced team to execute a fantastic event. Caterers should be willing share what their training process involves without hesitation.

Question 6 – Do you provide alcohol? This question is important to understand up front. In Colorado, due to state laws, caterers cannot retain a liquor license or re-sell alcohol. Experienced caterers, like Bistro Boys, work with liquor stores to coordinate client orders.

Question 7 –  Do you help with set up and breakdown? A quality caterer does more than serve the food at your wedding – they have the ability to set-up and break-down the ceremony site, bar, kitchen, and all the accessories in the guest reception area.

Question 8 – What is the estimated cost of catering? While every event is different based on menu choices, location set-up and tear-down requirements, and other logistical issues, a good caterer should provide an estimated cost based on the details you provide.

No matter the size, style, and location, Bistro Boys specializes in satisfying all of your wedding needs. Please feel free to contact us if you have any wedding planning questions. For more questions and answers, visit WeddingWire or our FAQs page.
